Eliot Spitzer

Though in the beginning of his governorship, NY Gov. Eliot Spitzer emphasized on reform and change, the people of NY believe that he has not implement any change in the state.

State Insurance Superintendent Eric Dinallo, a protege of Governor Eliot Spitzer, has caught his boss's zest for meddling in private markets without much wisdom and is venturing beyond his explicit legal authority. In the process, he's helping to abrogate private contracts and may make the credit crisis worse.

New York Governor Eliot Spitzer is pushing a tax on illegal drugs as a way to help close the huge budget gap his administration faces. The proposal though seemingly serious has been widely mocked.

NEW YORK -- If you can't beat it, tax it. That seems to be the axiom in New York these days, where Gov.Eliot L. Spitzer, struggling to close a $4.4 billion budget gap, has proposed making drug dealers pay tax on their stashes of illegal drugs. The new tax would apply to cocaine, heroin and marijuana, and could be paid with pre-bought "tax stamps"

>...Only Eliot Spitzer has seriously proposed that the state of New York could help make up its budget deficit through tax stamps on nickel bags. If he thinks that creating a new tax regime and enforcement mechanism on illegal drugs will bring in more money than it costs, then Spitzer must really be smoking something tax free....>>
